The northern capital of Thailand
The city of Chiang Mai is situated more than 700 km to the northwest from Bangkok. It stands on the banks of the Ping River among the mountains of Doi Suthep and Opkhan. Numerous magnificent temples make the city centre really amazing. Chiang Mai is considered to be as Thailand northern capital. The city is modern, busy and lively but it still manages to preserve the cultural historical atmosphere. It has collections representing culture and art of Chiang Mai and the historical Kingdom of Lan Na.
