The Grand palace is a group of buildings situated in Bangkok. It used to be the royal residence. But at present the palace occasionally serves as a venue for ceremonies and official events. The residence of the ruling king Bhumibol (Rama IX) is Chitralada Palace. The main things in the Grand Palace that may attract your attention are Boromabiman Hall which was built by king Rama VI, Amarinda Hall (also known as the Hall of Justice), at present used for ceremonial events and coronations. Most rooms of the Palace are closed for visitors, but they are allowed to the large reception room in European style. It is called Grand Palace Hall or Chakri Maha Prasat. But this room didn’t serve as the royal residence because of a mysterious death of King Rama VIII who was shot in his room in 1946. The Dusit Hall and museum are also worth your attention.
