Welcome to ThailandThailand is considered to be the geographical core of South-East Asia. The country of Thailand is divided into four main parts. The northern region is characterized by mountainous landscape. Northern Thailand is famous for the ancient city of Chiang Mai and the country’s highest peak Doi Inthanon, numerous ruins and temples. This region occupies the territory which was settled by the hill tribes of Thailand thousands of years ago. The semi-arid Korat plateau covers the north-east part of Thailand which is less visited than other regions of the country. The culture of Korat combines the traits of Thai, Lao and Khmer cultures. Central Thailand is characterized by fruitful rice plains that lie in the valley of the Chao Phraya River. The main feature of the southern region is amazing beaches.
